The main intersection of Hwy. 12 and Hwy. 116. in the Downtown area. North Main Street to South Main Street includes a one way street. Welcome to the Central District, also known as the Downtown. The heart of any community, the Downtown offers a blend of old town architecture and new modern facades. The Central District, Main Street runs North and South and this is also where you’ll find the Town Plaza, which houses many local community activities.
Hwy. 116 heads north up Healdsburg Ave. to Mill Station Rd. Traveling North from the Downtown on the Hwy.116 corridor, one will find businesses dotting the way to two major shopping centers in Sebastopol, Fiesta Center and the Redwood Marketplace. Convenient shopping and parking for West County residents.
Hwy. 116 heading South becomes Gravenstein Ave. So. and turns back into two way traffic. Heading North is becomes Petaluma Ave. until intersects with Hwy. 12. South of Main opens up opportunities for several types of shopping centers and experiences. Some of the older homes headed south on Main now house professional offices. The gateway from the South end of town provides lodging, local grocer and a few small centers.
The Eastern gateway to town is on Hwy. 12 from Santa Rosa, which becomes Sebastopol Ave. crossing Main Street to Bodega Ave. As you cross over the bridge on the East side of Sebastopol’s Downtown, you will be welcomed by the Laguna de Santa Rosa and some of the egrets that live there! From the Hwy 12 E. corridor, one will experience a variety of professional buildings, a main artery to town and many pieces of public art. A large water tower housed with an authentic railroad car provides a center for eating, shopping, spas and lodging.
From the Main intersection, Hwy. 12 West becomes Bodega Ave. as you head out in the country side toward the coast. From Downtown, go West on Hwy. 12 which is Bodega Ave. and you’ll find the Fire Department, a school, restaurants, a small shopping complex and a large professional building.
